Over the past year since I started Screenwriting: The Script Adventure, I’ve learned a few things: notably that filmmaking, like all professions, is not to be taken lightly. That is to say, just because what you saw at the movies or on television looks like it’s done easily doesn’t mean it is. It means the team who presented it know how to do what they’re doing, and do it well. I’ve come to recognize three crucial aspects of filmmaking: story, socializing, and profit.
My writing has sort of been kind of idle. I finished Robert McKee's Story, and now I’m reading over the text I highlighted. I also jotted down ideas I have for the rewrite of my second feature. I keep a notebook with pen at all times now – a “Writer” without writing utensils is ludicrous.
In any event, I’ve been focused on reading scripts and watching movies. There’s a valuable purpose for this exercise I’m not sure some filmmakers appreciate. Actually, any time
Do not throw away your confidence, because it has a great reward -Hebrews 10:35 New English Translation
One of the most important characteristics of a champion is confidence. Confidence is the catalyst that elevates talented people above doubters, haters, and pessimists. It separates the good from the great, the men and women from the girls and boys. Without confidence a person wouldn't be able to accomplish any significant feat, overcome any o… Continue

I wrote the first scene of my first script sometime in mid-to-late April 2006. It wasn't until March 2009 that I had a table read with the Atlanta Screenwriters Group which I haven't been as actively involved with due to my work schedule. In any event, yesterday I planned to read my umpteenth rewrite. Still, I'm confident I have a 'final draft'... now. From here I plan to continue researching how to put together a business plan for this project, then polish my pitch.
If I was a gambling man I would bet all of my money on Tiger Woods winning the Masters this coming weekend. He is the most talented player in his profession, but talent will not be the deciding factor. Tiger will win this year's Masters for two reasons; He's programmed to win, and he needs to win.
The difference between a champion and someone with talent is found in the… Continue

I learned alot about being successful by sitting with and watching firsthand one of the most successful music producers in the world, Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins. I caught this video from Wes Pendleton's tumblr page. I must say Japhia Life came correct with this one. It definitely has that gritty, Philly feel. Kudos on a job well done. Continue

It takes a remarkable will to win in order to be successful in the music industry. The industry is a very small, unforgiving circle of friends, associates and business people that have known or known of one another for a considerable amount of time and like to do business together. Most aspiring art… Continue

I just caught this video and I thought to myself " Man...this is DOPE! " The song is called "We Can Be More" by Reach Records artist Sho Baraka. Check this joint out and share it with your friends. Good music!
I got notes from Beth Danesco of All Stories Critique Services on my second script. Needless to say she delivered on her promise and analyzed the living daylights out of my script. Her candor, expertise, humor, and turnaround are greatly valued especially as I begin Chapter 11 (i.e. Scene Analysis) of Robert McKee’s Story. I really want to dig deep with this second piece, that I’ve decided to finish reading before attacking the rewrit… Continue

Wow. If you've ever listened to any of Eminem's music, I'm sure you would agree that although he is one of the more
talented lyricists in the industry, the guy explores some pretty disturbing possibilites and situations. Well in an article in UK's Guardian, Eminem admits that he… Continue
